FAQ Mitres is this the same as Magic squares and Domino kniiting? Are the squares knitted and then sew together?
Answer: There are many names for Mitres it can be called Modular knitting too. For those who hate seams these are great pieces - totally seamless Coco Vee Cape/ Capelet, Mitre vee Capelet. With Vest and Jackets there is generally only shoulder seams with the front and back formed in one piece.
FAQ Tension for Mitres how do i do this?
Answer: The tension is generally given for st-st (stockinette). To check your tension for a garment you can knit a mitre from the chest section/ underarm. So the instructions will say to pick up - you'll have to make this a cast on. Once you have completed the mitre, hold it as a diamond and measure across point to point. See how many mitres run around the chset and times the sample metre size by the number of mitres and you will know if you are knitting the correct size.
FAQ Where can I read more about Mitres - they look complicated?
Answer: There is a section about Mitres in the back of Swing, Swagger, Drape page 144. The starter pieces in the book are the Coco Vee Cape or Capelet - or there a Mitre Gloves for July's project of the month. This comes with a sheet of hints and tips too.
